Standing at a height of 2 metres, White's Stone Cairn is one of the most accessible survey points along the South Australia - Victoria Border.
Description
White's Cairn was named after Edward White, who together with Henry Wade first surveyed the South Australia - Victoria border back in 1850. The original rock pile marker stood at 8 feet high and was first rebuilt in 2001 by local land surveyors from Renmark and Mildura.
Today, after further restoration works driven by John Pitt, now a retired DELWP surveyor, the noteworthy history and detail of the reconstructive works are captured on an interpretive display board, installed next to the monument.
White's Stone Cairn is located on the Border Fence Road, just south of Millewa Road. GPS location is - -34.017633, 140.963510
