FRUIT FLY OUTBREAK - Renmark and the greater Riverland area currently have a number of fruit fly outbreaks.  This has resulted in restrictions applying to the movement of at-risk fruit and vegetables within our region. To further understand these restrictions, please visit fruitfly.sa.gov.au when planning your visit.

Renmark's history is closely tied to irrigation and agriculture, following the construction of the Chaffey Brothers Irrigation System in the 1880s.

This innovative system allowed for large-scale farming in the region, transforming the desert landscape into a thriving hub for fruit production.

A visit to the Olivewood Historic Homestead and Museum or the outdoor Renmark Paringa Community Museum offers a chance to delve deeper into the local history. Both museums house a collection of artifacts and stories related to the town's past, it's establishment as an irrigation colony, its role in the riverboat trade as well as its importance as a gateway to the outback.

Cruising most months, the historic PS Industry is one of the last remaining genuine steam driven vessels along the Murray. When not cruising, she is open for viewing via the Renmark Visitor Centre.

The free Hotel Renmark Museum offers a glimpse of the incredible history of this establishment. The Hotel Renmark was noted as the first community owned hotel in the British Commonwealth and at one point, housed the longest bar in the British Empire!

A unique display of war history, art and memorabilia honoring local contributions to war efforts can be found at the Renmark Institute, including the Soldiers Memorial Hall Honour Roll.
Take a drive out to White's Stone Cairn to discover the intriguing story behind the surveying of the South Australian/ Victorian border. On your way back into Renmark, be sure to drop in to Cammie's Antiques and Collectibles for a taste of nostalgia!
